Not happy now. Firefox has updated and what a surprise... Bookmarks have vanished. I must have had over 200 bookmarks with some pretty important sites. :(

It's only ever done this twice before and then stopped so I thought I was ok now. Any chance of getting them back?

Thanks. :(

The file they are stored in is called bookmarks.html, so try searching for that.

For future reference though, Foxmarks is a really good extension ;)

That link should explain how to do it. I had the same thing happen before and nearly lost a load of bookmarks but this got them back. :)

Just managed to get them back before I read your posts. They're located in 'Bookmarkbackups' in your Firefox profile. Feel better now, lol.

Thanks for replies. :)

Good news. :) I'd think about either exporting the bookmarks in Firefox manually or installing an extension that would backup the bookmarks to a file on your PC for you.

Aye, Foxmarks is great IMO. You can specify your own FTP too, rather than use their own servers.

I used to edit my bookmarks a lot; I'd add new links from Lifehacker.com or just generally tidy them up every week so I just did this manually.

However I've now ditched Firefox for Opera and no lost bookmarks....yet! :p

Have had the same thing happen to me. Used to store my profile on another drive, but after the auto update the profile was moved to default location on C: drive

Lost all bookmarks and passwords, as for some reason the files of my original profile are original size. Fairly miffed at Firefox, but I should have remembered to disabled the auto update feature.

i don't see how you can lose your bookmarks. it stores the last 5 days as backups in the profile folder? a separate file for each day?
