firefox: hide just random parts of a page

i know adblock can hide images or at least some images but not seen how to do this for parts of a page. for instance i recently joined facebook and it driving me crazy seeing the peopel it suggesting i might know to the side of the page. is there any way i can like select this, right click and select remove?

isn't there a 'x' thats there for most features in facebook?

I don't use facebook but wouldn't NoScript allow to disable some of the elements?
