For some reason when I booted up my PC today all my html files that I have stored on my hard drive appear as IE7 icons even though they state they are Firefox Documents.

My default browser is Firefox (2.0.0.11) and has been for the last few years.

Is there a quick fix because it's annoying as I never even use IE7 anymore?

If I use a FTP client, the html files appear as Firefox icons?

Example:

For those who use Windows XP, it’s easy to change icon for any file type. Just open Windows Explorer and then choose Tools → Folder Options → File Types → Select file type → Advanced → Change Icon.

You'll probably find the firefox icon packaged inside the FireFox directory or even the FireFox executable itself.

Thanks for the suggestion but still no joy. It must be a bug in Windows XP or something.

When I click on properties on a current "htm" or "html" IE7 icon it comes up with this:

Probably just the icon cache. I'm sure there's an easier way to do it, but download TweakUI (Microsoft PowerToy), install it, go to the Repair section, select Repair Icons and hit Repair Now.

Did you mean Rebuild Icons > Repair Now

There's not an option called Repair Icons.
