I used to like it but hate it now. it crashed on me for the 7th time this year. I have 30 tabs open and lost them. So had to go and do a Windows restore to get them back

You can restore tabs without resorting to windows restore btw - bit beyond the scope of a post here but you can copy old sessionstore.bak files over the latest one in the user data folder for firefox. (Google sessionstore.bak and/or tab restore for more details).

For years I ran it with ~25 tabs open (less these days) and never had any crashing issues until more recent versions.

The only issues I seem to have with firefox is it 'freezing' with some sites poor javascript coding (I get the popup saying xyz.js is not responding) and google maps getting worse the more 'features' google adds (which just happen to work fine on chrome ).

Everything else seems to work ok although I do wish firefox dev's would focus more on web features (up to date html5/css etc) and performance (it is a bit slower than ie/chrome) than adding in stuff like the new built in 'pocket' website viewer which already had own add in, even more so when the built in one didn't even work properly when released.

Are you sure it's not down to plugins such as flash (they're still rubbish)

If you think Google Maps is slow then I dare you to try the new bing Maps, I double dare you!

Google Maps is smooth as butter for me btw :p

Or better still, use Firefox Portable. Hardly have any problems and it's standalone from Windows so each version / upgrade is in its own folder... If a new version is problematic, I still have the previous version to hand!
