Firefox is the worst browser for heating up gpu

I've not noticed anything out of the ordinary between any GPU enabled browser... Maybe it's your GFX card drivers. I am on nvidia, these have never really had problems in this regard anyway though whereas ATI have had various issue sin the past and quite possibly still do.

When I had GPU acceleration turned on in Firefox it would set my 6950 clocks to maximum, so it did increase the temperature. Though with a quad core CPU don't need GPU acceleration anyway.

Do you have any evidence to backup your post? How you tested? Your setup? Examples?

This is from about 5secs of scrolling on ocuk. When the screen is static, ie your not browsing or scrolling, the clock speed drops and temp goes down. But you can scroll like mad with the other browsers without effecting gpu at all.

Idel clock speed 250mhz,
idel temp about 34c

Phil, you mentioned it the other day to me, so I installed FF and yes, my gpu temp suddenly increased. I only use chrome though, don't need FF. I think you said it's because FF uses 3D or something?

Yeah but all the browsers use 3D/hardware acceleration now. You tried IE and chrome aswel, and they didn't effect your temps either.. So why is firefox different?
