Hey all,

When I go to youtube, sometimes it completely crashes and I'm forced to force-quit and sometimes it works perfectly...

I have had it freeze on me before and it comes back to life and when I get to youtube it shows:

So I think it may be a problem with the big ad on the main page...

Any ideas on how to stop the crashing?

Thanks,

Marky

Firefox has been playing up with flash for a while for me, so I now use chrome.

It's so much harder to check sig sizes in chrome :o

Same here made the switch a few months ago has FF kept crashing whenever there was YouTube video present. Haven't bothered with FF 4 as I've got used to Chrome.

Not to sound obtuse, but I only ever use Firefox 4 with Flash and I've never, ever seen YouTube (or any other site) crash that way... Well, I've said it now haven't I?!... :o :D

Either my machine is a special kind of awesome, or one of us is doing something the other isn't. Do you run AdBlock Plus (I do)? Other add-ons, such as video downloaders that may interfere (the latest FastestTube is buggy)? Just suggestions.

It seems strange I can play any YouTube vid (up to and including 1080p), ITV Player, iPlayer etc etc and not have a problem. It suggests your setup or addons?

It has no problems playing videos but it's just the main page with the giant ad that's the problem.

Does AdBlock Plus get rid of the big ad (as shown in the OP)?

I've just installed AdBlock Plus now - after a few tries on loading YouTube it didn't load the giant ad and it hasn't crashed - So it would appear it has fixed it crashing :)

Thanks for the suggestion :) Let's hope I continue to be crash-free :D
