Firefox - Master Password for password storage

Hi

should I be worried about other software being able to access the Firefox stored passwords ?

been reading about it and mentions setting the master password which is on the Security tab

any opinions ?

yeah but cookies dont have passwords stolen and only the site that created the cookie can read it

mind you they are only text files so some software outside the browser could have a look ?
