Firefox - new tab

When I open a new tab in the newest firefox it displays a bunch of webites instead of a blank page like previously.

Is there a way to change it to how it used to be? The new way is noticably slower (and uselss to me).


Edit: N/M. I just noticed the tiny icon in the top-right which alows you to turn it off. But just for the record, how do I get it back if I should ever need to?

Press the tiny button again.

You can do this with about:config. set option "browser.newtab.url" to about:blank instead of about:newtab

This will disable the newtab completely and remove the little square.
