I just started Firefox up and my homepage had changed. Strange!

Then I noticed that all my favourites have vanished and the skin has been deleted.

Anyone know why this has happened?
 
your profile has probably gayed up, mines done this a couple times, i cant remember what to do but don't fret, your favourites and stuff is still there its just firefox has chosen to ignore it for the time being!

check here m8:

c:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\foldername.default\bookmarkbackups???

There should be a bookmarks.bak file there, change it to bookmarks.html :)

IIRC it backs them up once a day and keeps like a weeks worth stored!

It happens with Opera as well. I've been using Opera since 2000 and i think it's happened at least once with every version, but not recently though.
 
firefox used to do this regularly with me, messing up the profiles. There was an extension/addon for backing them up that I used called mozbackup i think.

I gave up in the end and switched to opera, though that was more to do with memory usage and firefox crashing
