Is there a tool anywhere, or anyway of setting a users proxy settings in firefox, and locking it so they cannot change it. As we have users on our domain that use firefox, and we would like to force them through our Proxy server, and also keep them off the slow backup link, and onto the fast primary ADSL link.

Cheers Dusty.

AFAIK it can't be done, short of blocking or redirecting HTTP traffic that doesn't go through the proxy.

Building Fx into an MSI and making it use GPO is being worked on; some of it might make it to Firefox 3 (see this Mozillazine thread).

If its that much of a problem, stop them using fox....

You have to balance a lot of issues when managing a network and generally speaking, you should stick to a standard set of apps for your users - it will cut down on headaches like this immensely.
