I'm running Kubuntu Hardy with KDE4.1 and Firefox 3.

Whenever I try to open a document on a website I get asked which application to use. Is there a way of selecting applications from a list as I would on a windows machine or do I have to manually locate the binary for every filetype that I wish to download via Firefox?

Cheers,

Russell

I'm getting the problem with .doc .pdf .odt. I'm getting the option to Save or Open With but clicking "Open With" gives me a directory browser so I have to go looking for the binary myself.

If i save and click them in dolphin they open fine so the system itself understands what filetypes these are and the appropriate application to use to open them.

Thanks for the reply,

Russell

Unfortunately you just have to select the binary file, that's the problem with a non-native app I'm afraid.

sorry not at my computer right now but cant you select it in firefox options, what program opens with what files? I'll have a look ,yself later.
