Firefox open new tab problem

This has only just started recently but is truly annoying. I press the wheel on my mouse to open a link in a new tab, but now most of the time when I press it, it opens the link up twice (two tabs). Why is this?

Are you running the latest version of Firefox? I think I heard about this problem but I thought it was patched...

Check your mouse settings and if not re-install firefox?

I'd have to say it might be that the middle button on your mouse is getting over sensitive and is taking your one click as several (the same thing happened to my mouse and a banging the mouse down sorted it out although it still does happen every once in a while but not as often as it did).
