Does anyone know if it is possible (or if I need a particular add on) so that I can maintain multiple log in/password details for the same website? I use yahoo mail for my personal email and I also have a yahoo account for a voluntary service I am part of and it would be very handy if I can open up two tabs, one with a different yahoo account logged in so that I can check my messages etc. I'm aware that this may be not be possible because of the way cookies work, but thought that firefox may have some functionality that may allow this.

It's not the password manager (you already can have more than one saved password for a given site) but the fact the site's using cookies to identify which user you are - as you suggest, that isn't an option.

yeah, thought so tolien, thanks for the info. I tried having two firefox windows open but no joy, they seem to share the same pool of cookies (maybe I need to change a setting so that multiple instances are running, I'm not sure). I've got round the problem for now by using IE for one account and firefox for the other, not very elegant but will have to do.

You could run separate Fx profiles with the -no-remote switch, but you'd need to be using a separate profile as well - you can't run more than one process on the same profile.
