Anyway can I retrieve them?

My roaming profile at work got borked so they gave me one that effectively started from scratch.

That's not really a huge problem as I was due a spring clean but it means my firefox install (1.5) lost its settings and passwords. I have a backup of the old borked profile and all the firefox stuff is intact, so I'm wondering how I can import the old passwords (or just view them for that matter).

The trick of it will be that I took the opportunity to upgrade to 2.0, so am not sure that just dumping the old ff profile over the new one will work.

Thanks in advance.

tools, options, security, show passwords.

You might be slightly alarmed that they are openly viewable in plain text, but IE stores in plain text also. You can encrypt them if you like, I advise this to anyway, especially with a laptop.

If you've got the old profile, all you have to do is copy a few files into the new one, and you should be able to restore the saved passwords, bookmarks et al. Mozillazine's knowledgebase is your friend.

They're encrypted when they're stored, but how else would populate a form if you didn't have the plain password...
