Firefox plugin to play streaming video?

Hi all.

I just reinstalled XP and I have installed Firefox. When I try to watch live BBC News 24 from the BBC website, and some other websites, they don't seem to play and firefox asks me to install Windows media player 11 as a plugin in order to play it.

I don't want to install Windows media player 11, I hate it... I am currently using Windows media player 10 and find it much easier to use.

Is there not another plugin I can use to see this instead of installing Windows media player 11? Is there some other kind of player for Firefox?
