hi
i've just found firefox portable to go on a usb drive, but one the things it suggests is to not remember passwords (incase you lose the drive) - i would rather keep the passwords for the various sites i visit so is there a way to set a master password to protect the firefox folder etc.

something easy and free

thanks

Tools -> Options -> Security -> Use a Master Password in Firefox?
They're stored encrypted, and without the password there isn't much you can do to get them out...

thats useful thanks, but i was looking for something a bit more sophisticated - like say, the folder is protected on the drive and cannot be accessed or started before a password is given, for example.

make a 7zip passworded exe of the whole folder, then you can upload this to webspace somewhere and download it whenever you need it, unpack it (with the password) then delete it afterwards..

Does your USB drive come with any software?
You could store the folder in an encrypted self extracting zip or whatever.

the encrytped self extracting zip file sounds like a good idea though ;)
