Firefox Problem - Flash Plugin

I finally got my newly built machine connected to the internet yesterday and downloaded firefox but no matter what I do I cannot successfully install the flash plugin. Wether I do it manually from the adobe site or through firefox itself it fails. I have got flash working fine in ie but id rather use firefox and need flash for youtube etc.

Any ideas?
