I'm running Vista Business Edition 32 bit and when I try to open Firefox I get an error message that says "The program must close to allow a previous installation attempt to complete. Please restart"
I've restarted Firefox and Vista but I get the same message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. It installs OK and starts when i have finished the installation. When I close it and attempt to restart I get the same message.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Ah now I had this exact problem yesterday but I can't remember what exactly I did to sort it.

I remember task manager was needed and I had to delete a couple of files. Do a google for 'xpicleanup.exe' and that will sort you out.

Theres always some one on google who has done it before you :)

Managed to finf the solution on the Firefox site. You have to go into the firefox folder and delete the "xpicleanup.exe" file. problem is Vista won't let me do it It says I don't have sufficent privileges
help please:confused:

aha yes I had that too.

Had to make sure task manger didn't have ixcleanup.exe running then it was a case of finding ixpcleanup.exe or was it ixcleanup.bat in a hidden folder somewhere or other and deleting it manually

Sorry I'm not much help really but it's the same thing I had and it is sortable. I'm now using firefox with no problems at all.
