Firefox refreshing pages repeatedly

Having a problem with firefox. This is on a desktop that I haven't used for a while but my little brother has been using. I am using the beta of Firefox 3 but it was happening on 2 aswell. Basically when you open a new page it will sometimes refresh the page multiple times without any promting, which is obviously annoying if you are halfway through ready something and it just decides to do it. It doesn't always do it, but most of the time. Any ideas what would be causing this? Its running XP SP3

first thought spyware? had you ran checks and cleaned the computer?

There's an extension to reload pages on a schedule as well. Barring that, try Firefox's safe mode or a new profile.
