Anyone having performance issues with Firefox. Playing flash video stutters and general browsering lags.

Switched to Google Chrome and its nice and quick, but lacks the plug-in/add-on.

I've found that Firefox is becoming bloated and slower with each release.

Using Safari on Mac and Chrome on PC has given me much better speed, but then I don't mess about with extensions.

I'd recommend having a dig around in the about:config pages for some speed tweaks if you want to keep using Firefox.

Clearing then limiting my history from 90 to 30 days solved my slow Firefox. For heavy users 90 days of history is massive and I guess with the address bar indexing it the way it does causes problems.

Quit firefox, backup your profile and move it, so that when firefox starts its a completely vanilla install.

That's how fast its supposed to be. That's where all these fastest firefox ever claims are coming from.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the beast (multiple extensions etc) I imagine that your user profile picks up a lot of cruft over time, which leads to a lot of speed problems.

Somewhat recently I gave up on Firefox and moved full time to Safari, so much faster and I have managed to customise in most of the features I like (I was never a huge extension user). Only thing I miss is web developer toolbar.
