Firefox - Second (or larger) bookmarks toolbar

I'm not sure about that, but folders within folders are probably a better idea than taking up screen space with another toolbar..?

I'd rather it take up the extra screen space personally but I'm struggling to find any way of actually doing it.

How about this?: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=254701

EDIT: The way I keep my bookmarks is as favicons largely with no label. I can fit about a hundred of them across the screen. Just an idea.

Like so:

I'd tried that link when I was googling for an answer earlier without success.

I've pretty much done the same as you and reduced all my visible bookmarks to a couple of characters each.

I just tried the method at the link to see if it would work:

This is Firefox 2.0.0.4 on Windows. What did it do when you tried it?

How the.......

Using the same version of Firefox in XP Pro. I copied the txt/code went into Mozilla Firefox/defaults/profile/chrome, edited the userchrome-example file and saved it as "userchrome". Restarted Firefox but couldn't see any difference or way of achieving what I wanted.

Did you do something different to me?

I coped the code and opened up userChrome-example.css. It read as follows.
Code:
/*
 * Edit this file and copy it as userChrome.css into your
 * profile-directory/chrome/
 */

/*
 * This file can be used to customize the look of Mozilla's user interface
 * You should consider using !important on rules which you want to
 * override default settings.
 */

/*
 * Do not remove the @namespace line -- it's required for correct functioning
 */
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* set default namespace to XUL */

/*
 * Some possible accessibility enhancements:
 */
/*
 * Make all the default font sizes 20 pt:
 *
 * * {
 *   font-size: 20pt !important
 * }
 */
/*
 * Make menu items in particular 15 pt instead of the default size:
 *
 * menupopup > * {
 *   font-size: 15pt !important
 * }
 */
/*
 * Give the Location (URL) Bar a fixed-width font
 *
 * #urlbar {
 *    font-family: monospace !important;
 * }
 */

/*
 * Eliminate the throbber and its annoying movement:
 *
 * #throbber-box {
 *   display: none !important;
 * }
 */

/*
 * For more examples see [url]http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html[/url]
 */
When viewed in notepad it looks a lot more condensed because Windows doesn't handle the end lines/carriage returns.

I pressed return a few times after then end of that example and pasted the text. I saved it then renamed the file to userChrome.css. I restarted Firefox and there it was. :)

I must be missing something because I'm doing exactly the same thing but when I restart FF there's no difference. :(
