Firefox Security Warning

Users of Secuni PSI will need to temporarily place Firefox in the ignore list as it is still classing v15 as end-of-life and updating to v16.

I just reverted to v15 only to have PSI re-update to v16 silently in the background!

Well that would explain why when I did a check for updates on my laptop last might, 15.0.1 was stated as the latest version when my desktop system had updated to 16.

I'll just wait until the patches have been sorted out instead of downgrading the already installed version 16 on my desktop (it's rare for me to stray outside the sites I normally frequent, and the patches should be available soon so the risk would be limited).

Heh.

I've just uninstalled v16 and gone back to v15.0.1 because of this security vulnerability. I would never have known otherwise if it wasn't for news sites.

It's kind of a goof but as long as they sort it out quickly it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I really don't understand the advice to downgrade though for what seemingly amounts to a privacy issue. That is really odd.

People get pretty uppity about privacy.

My point is FF 16 fixed 11 critical security vulnerabilities... so Mozillas advice was to essentially regress to a known vulnerable version to avoid a new, less critical issue.

It doesn't make sense.
