As the title says, it's really slow and takes 15 - 20 seconds for it to open. I'm using the latest release and I've uninstalled it and reinstalled in twice now but it's still the same. I've done virus and spyware checks and nothing shows up. Anyone else have firefox that's slow to open?

Firefox is slower to open than IE because it's not part of the operating system.

It usually checks for updates to the application, and plugins, when starting, so this could be causing a delay.

I only ever open it once when I first start my machine, so don't notice how long it does or doesn't take!

I thought that was the problem as well but I don't seem to remember it ever taking this long to start before.

In addition to what GeForce suggested, have you tried safe mode (Firefox not Windows)? You'd be surprised how much difference your extensions can make.

I finally managed to remove a googlebar toolbar (what a pain) that had been installed as part of a divx codec I installed. This was slowing FF really down. I've also removed my themes so it's quite nippy now!

For a minute there I thought I might have to go back to IE :D
