Firefox spellchecker stopped working

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Check my spelling As I type should be checked.
What happens when you right click a text box (like the text box for entering posts)? There should be a "Spell check this field" that's ticked, and a Languages option.

will check in an hour or so the window installers have taken over the room, but on the laptop here I can see the option your talking about when you right click on a text area. I've checked everything but that option, so that could be the problem.

Update:
Back on the PC now and the "check spelling while I type in ticked in options" however the "Spell check this field" is not shoing when I right click this text area.
umm it's showing ok on the laptop but the options not showing any ideas ?

Sorted it , for some reason the dictionary had been removed, just re-installed the brit one and it's working again, thanks mate for pointing me in the right direction.

Yeah the whole experience is a bit crap really.
They aren't allowed to distribute any dictionary other than en-US, but it would be so much better if it popped up and said "You're running Firefox with the en-GB/British English/real English localisation, do you want to install the dictionary for that locale?" then either automatically went off and downloaded it, or gave you a link to addons.mozilla.org to downloading it yourself.
IIRC there's a bug filed for it though, and the "OMGz0rz, annoying messages" crew would have a field day.
