Firefox stuck using entire processor

Hey guys, bit of an unusual problem today. Using FF3 the latest version and occasionaly I've just noticed today that it will get stuck using as much of the processor as it can and whenever I try to open a link it comes up as "loading" as if I have no connection.

I'm going through my addons checking to see if any might be causing the problem. It's lost connection before but i only noticed today that it was using 100% of the CPU. I had closed firefox down and went to play med2:TW and checked processexplorer because of how slow it was loading and there was firefox in the background chewing up my CPU.

Any ideas what might be causing this? It's pretty random when it happens but I can't seem to go more then 10min now without it happening.

Didn't help I'm afraid. If I can't get it working I'll try removing my profile completely and reinstalling it then. If that doesn't work then I'll just go back to FF2. Never had a problem with that!

Trying a new profile and/or safe mode should be the first step.

Thanks Tolien. In the end I uninstalled again and hunted down every firefox folder and registry entry and deleted them all then did a new clean install. Seems okay so far so fingers crossed.
