firefox update problems- please advise

using an old version of Firefox but i would like to run the latest version but i cannot

it does not start in full mode and it will not start even when i try to run in safe mode.
i have tried to run it without any extensions or add-ons it will simply not start-task manager says it is running but browser just does not load up.

having to downgrade to Firefox 3.15.

any useful /sensible advice will be appreciated.

i'd backup your bookmarks, close firefox and then delete the entire Firefox folder found under

%appdata%\Mozilla

copy/pasting that in to explorer should take you to the right place.

now install the latest version, start it up and re-import your bookmarks.

is there a back-up prog for saving my username/passwords and bookmarks ect ?
