Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems with firefox. Mine has updated itself twice in the past week or 2 and it is causing me serious problems. After an hour or so, browsing it locks the whole system up until it is closed using task manager. I think it may be a memory leak(but not sure).

Been testing opera on my laptop and i actually much prefer it to firefox. So just wondering really if anyone else has had any problems.

Please no firefox fanboys denouncing the evil of opera and the godlyness of firefox

Well I'm a FF fan boy so deal with it. :D

However, try reinstalling FF to see if that works, also, I would suggest using Opera if that works better for you. ;)

The only time Ff has ever crashed for me is when a plugin like WMP, Acrobat Reader, or Qt crashes and takes down the browser with it. I think it might be cool in the future if somebody did a Ff build that made it multi-threaded. It'd be interesting if each tab or window had its own process. That way my 4 CPU system could render pages 4 times as fast when I'm opening many tabs per second as I sometimes do.

While you're at it, try a new profile, and safe mode.

Not all the crashes and memory leaks are exclusively Firefox's fault.

I have a problem in Firefox...

Most of the time, when I try and type it brings up the "find" bar at the bottom

to get around this, i have to reboot, then it works for a while

any ideas? i might try and reinstall it

Tools -> Options -> General -> "Search for text when I start typing".
Might not be exactly there (or called that), but it's Find-As-You-Type you want to disable.

thanks mate, i'll see if it happens again :)

That's what I meant - couldn't remember what it was in 1.5. :p

As for starting up when you type - that's what it's meant to do.
You mean when you're typing in a form element (like the title/message boxes on this forum)?
