On the road....
I have just recieved a copy of Firepower for Combat Flight Sim 3 (CFS3)

http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/CFS3/firepower.htm

Trouble is, most of the extra Aircraft included in this package simply don't show up in my simulator.

All of the files have installed correctly, from what I can see, but none only a few are actually available to use in the sim.

Some added effects work (Nuke bombs eg) but not the aircraft.

I've been playing CFS 3 since launch, and have never had issues before, I've even removed my much modified install (in case any of my other add-ons were conflicting) but get the same result with a Vanilla install. :(

Any flight simmers out there who can help me?

Thanks in advance.
:)

Edit:

Update.

After a good long trawl through the Firepower / Shockwave Forums, it seems my using the dreaded no-CD patch could be the issue.

Fair enough, I've un-installed (again!), re-installed a clean, updated CFS3 install (fully manually deleted the old CFS3 folder & cleaned the registry)

And, guess what?

Yup! - I still get no heavies on my Aircraft list!

cry

Looks like my CFS3 revival is going to be very short lived.

What really annoys me is if I download a Freeware B17 4 engine plane that I've found, it works fine!

Any avid CFS3 simmers out there in OCUK land? Help!

hello mate

not sure if this will help you, but when i installed firepower i had the same issue, fancy new bombs but no new aircraft. I right clicked the .exe file and run it in compatibility mode for windows 98, the game ran fine with all new aircraft in, then strangely enough, after that, even when i didnt run it in compatibility mode it all worked fine. Flying the jets and B17s + 24s on full simulation is great fun with a force feedback stick!

Hope this works, and enjoy!

Thank you for the reply, and one that I had not (yet) tried.

I've re-installed, un-installed, added planes then removed them manually all to no avail (but, choosing nuclear armed Spitfires for quick combat wasn't an issue!)

Well, I just read this reply & subsequently tried your suggestion and I'm delighted to say YEEEEES!! it worked! :D

Absolutely delighted! - Thank you for the tip - never known Windows combatibility to be an issue with CFS3, which surprises me, given that I'm a long standing member & ex-moderator of a Flight simulaton forum - where I'd drawn a blank also!! and my knowledge of the FS / CFS series of games was,so I thought, very comprehensive! :o

Like you, having once ran the .exe in compatibility mode, I've subsequently re-booted the rig and tried the sim again without first running the compatibility wizard thingy and its now working quite happily! - No bother, I'm just pleased it works! :o

Old Dog , new tricks is the moral of my woe I suppose! :D

Thanks very much again mate! :)
