My son and I have just axed our christmas tree from this year, chopped each branch up in small managable sizes and burn the on the chimnea.
As well as it being lost of fun for Hayden seeing lots of red fire sparks, there was a considerable amount of smoke, more than I have seen from past chimnea fires in the summer.
Is there a limit or guide on how much smoke 1 household is allowed to produce ?
I also have an open fire in the house, which burns coal and logs in the winter.
So if you have a chimnea burning in the garden as long as im not burning tyres do you think im ok to burn a christmas tree ?

oh yeah im always very sensible when it come to fires, hose pipe is never more than 4ft away.

I tried disposing of two bowling balls on the BBQ a couple of years ago, they burned great since they're just huge lumps of plastic.

However they produced a MAHOOOOOSIVE plume of black smoke that looked like a 747 had crashed in my garden, and within 5 minutes I had 2 panicking neighbours rush round to see if my house was on fire. Fortunately I turned the hose on them sharpish (the balls, not the neighbours) and put them out before anyone called the Fire Brigade. :o

Christmas trees = yes
Bowling balls = no

I fear you may have just made the Greenpeace hitlist, and will be condemned to burn forever in Eco-warrior hell.
