Firestick 4k Max help - no dolby vision/HDR

I have a Sony STR1060 with an LG B8 TV. The firestick is plugged into the HDCP 2.2 port on my amp. I can't seem to get Dolby Vision on Netflix to work through the firestick. The Netflix app on the TV itself plays Dolby Vision fine. When I go to the firestick settings, video resolution is up to 4k, Colour depth is up to 12 bits but if I do an audio and video diagnostics on the firestick it says HDR support: No and Dolby Vision: No.

I've tried changing HDMI 1 to HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour on but when I do that, it switches my firestick to 1080p.

Any ideas?

Not "wrong" but i suspect that despite having a HDCP 2.2 port on CBL/SAT that it doesn't support the bandwidth required for DV. There's that, or it could be with the Fire TV stick plugged in behind the amp that the wireless(?) speed is a bit compromised, and so the stick is shifting down a gear. You need to investigate further.

I suspect the reason you see no HDR support and no Dolby Vision support when the Firestick is connected to your STR1060 is because the STR1060 does not support either. Yes it does 4K passthrough, but not HDR passthrough. The Firestick will not send an unsupported codec to anything it's connected to.
That's why it works when connected to your B8, you will get HDR then but if you check with the STR1060, you will find the sound codec will not be Dolby Vision.

Thanks lucid and kitfit1. I'll have to look at upgrading the amp later this year then if it doesn't support it.

I would make 100% shure that your STR1060 has the latest Firmware installed at this moment in time. If it has never been updated since you bought it, a firmware update could solve the issues. I don't think that it will solve Dolby Vision, but it might solve HDR passthrough. In which case, it will put you in the same position as you are plugging the Firestick into the TV.

Any update on success? I'm personally using firestick. Been using since last 5 months and. No side issues like slowing down have been reported. Moreover, you don’t lose your warranty on Jailbreaking. But make sure you jailbreak your firestick carefully. This guide should help

No success unfortunately, amp is fully up to date still no HDR. Will have to look at a replacement amp maybe towards the end of the year, thanks all for your help though.

hi

for me dolby vision worked well with the firestick 4k max but i don't know why that no longer work now... i've reset my tv - stick etc... no result but dolby vision works well on disney+ i think that the problem came from netflix.

This STR1060 doesnt support either DV or HDR. Its too old.

Suspect the OP has realised this as its an old thread and has now got a new shiny amp.

I did notice that when I plugged my firestick into amp. Mine came with a short hdmi male to rlfale cable so I'd have thought yours would too, just have to tuck it out the way.
This worked for me too - the TV I have has awkward HDMI ports which meant I couldn't plug the Firestick in.

I bought one of these cables cheaply and it solved my issue. Just have to buy a cable that's rated to the spec you need :)
