Hello, just wondering is someone could run ultra for me to test if boost is working ok on an overclocked Maxwell in graphics test 1.

On graphics test 1 my GPUs seem to run about 200 mhz slower, its like the boost clock isnt on or something. For all the other tests it works fine, also in firestrike extreme and normal its also working fine along with all my games and other benchmarks.

I just wanted to compare my firestrike ultra with my crossfire setup, i'll just disable boost later and test it but i thought i would ask if you guys are getting the same result or if its just mine. I might just need to reinstall drivers/3dmark or summat.

Cheers.

Yeah i dunno, doesnt matter i just edited the bioses to disable boost while i did that test. Seems strange it only does it on that particular test.

You'll be TDP limited in Firestrike Ultra. You'll need to up the power limit or the card/s will always throttle back a few hundred MHz.

Firestrike is more power hungry than most if not all other 3D benchmarks.

Load up MSI afterburner and make sure power limit is switched on for the OSD. Run the benchmark and watch, you'll see it constantly flick between 0 and 1.

Keep your voltage as low as possible, maybe even try leaving it at stock. All voltage does is increase the rate at which you reach the TDP limit. For stability it tends to make 0 difference.

Yeah i put a much higher TDP and powerlimit into the bios right after i installed them :) the only thing limiting the power is the 1.28 limit on the chip.

Ah ok, how much did you raise it by? My 980 needs around 280w to not be limited with 1531/8000 clocks, quite a massive bump over stock. Sounds like yours maybe needs to be slightly higher or your boost table needs a bit more tweaking. If you scroll down to your max boost clock and adjust the voltage to be unique (none of the boost bins above share the same voltage limit) then put both your 3D voltage sliders to this voltage, that'll ensure a static max clock. You'll have to manually key the max bin clock into the 'boost states' tab if it doesn't update them automatically.

I set them way higher than they can use like 350-375watts or summat in that region.

Its probably me messing with the boost clocks thats stopped boost working on that test then, this whole boost system is new to me as the last nvidia GPUS i had were 8800ultra sli and since i replaced them crossfire.

The thing is i like to have the clocks set real low in the bios so then i can underclock the pants off the cards for general use. Its something my ATI cards allowed me to do much easier to stop them wasting power in light games and watching movies etc. If i set higher clocks in the nvidia bios it doesnt let me underclock them as much for general use.

Anyway since it only effects firestrike ultra ill just flash a maxed out bios if i want to run it again, and i can use my low power bioses for the rest of the time.

Cheers for the help.

edit: hmm, i just tried ultra with my low power bios and now its not clocking down lol, no idea why since im running at lower volts now. Ah well saves me messing with bioses i can just stick with this one now.
