Hi,

Shockingly old I know but a friends PC went belly up after they did something stupid and we have carefully fixed it back up. Now running Win 2K (It's an old Celeron 667Mhz chip....) but looking to put a firewall on it to help keep it safeish

Looking for something that is Win 2K compatible but also has a small footprint - any suggestions?

(No upgrading allowed btw - owner of the PC can't afford that apparently...)

Do they have a firewall router? That would be a big help.

In addition, you need to carefully look at what services Windows 2000 has enabled and running and turn off the ones you don't need.

Not letting 2k on the net at all? Probably the most updated os because they didnt really think about this back in the day when they designed it.... *fond memories of my 2k win lite install with no ie at all*

You might be able to trick comodo into working in 2k... (havnt tried my self) with the xp installer....

Nothing wrong with 2K.

Although when I was using 2K, I spent 90% of my life trying to get it to look like XP and when I finally upped to XP, I ran it in the Win2K Classic theme? - Go figure?

Anyway, Outpost works great. Worked... Been a while.

Alternatively why not just use a good router with a firewall buit-in? I have not used a firewall of any kind since...Well, since I got my first router I think? - I toyed with the XP firewall purely for the UPnP stuff, but apart from that, I never bother and I go to some seriously sick websites and I have never had any kind of infection at all?
