Firewire PCI Card problem

I have a Belkin F5u501 PCI Firewire card installed in my machine. Typically, it has always worked fine, but now that i need it urgently, the thing plays the ass. Everything seems fine from within device manager, the same as its always been. The card itself seems like its installed fine, however, when i connect my sony digital camcorder, nothing happens. The cable that connects the two seems perfect, and my camcorder is too so im lost.

I've removed the pci card and started windows, then shutdown. I then put the card into a different PCI slot and started windows again. Windows picked up the card as new hardware, but i still have the same issue. Anyone experienced this before or have any other suggestions?

do you have anyway to test the cable? Have you used the camera on this card before? I would have suggested unistalling and reinstalling which u have done,

perhaps try a different pci slot

Just on the off chance, my camera MUST have the DC power connected or it won't be recognised when connected to firewire. It won't work from the batteries alone. Is yours the same?

unfortunately i don't have any others devices to try the cable on. The card, camera and cable have been used together faultlessly for over a year, and when they weren't used they were packed away. Nice idea ns400r as normally i do connect the camera to the power supply and the times i've been trying recently i never, unfortunately i gave this a try and its still not working.

check your camera menu options, I have a sony dv camcorder too on my old pci firewire card on old mobo which worked perfectly - There is usually an option to change the pc connection from USB to Firewire.

If that's all ok I can send you my PCI firewire card as I don't need it anymore since my mobo has onboard firewire. Mine is by VIA.

The camera only has a firewire port. Had a check on the camera menu anyway, no luck though.

Thanks for the offer for the card. I can't PM you, but could you email me at [email protected] so we can talk about the details? Thanks
