Is it possible to connect a FireWire device to a USB port using an adapter or cable? And if so, is it as simple as pluggin in, or is it device specific? A mate wants to plug her DV Camera into her laptop, btu the Camera is FireWire only, and the Laptop only has USB ports. Will the Laptop recognise the Camera as USB, or will the Camera just still think its a Firewire device??

As above. Most laptops I've used had mini Firewire ports, despite the fact that nobody ever uses them. Scout around for them.
its a budget Acer laptop with as far as i know, no form of firewire. I will have a check though, and see if it can take a pcmcia card
EDIT: oh for gods sakes mods, just because a thread has the word 'Laptop' in it doesnt mean it has to go into the Laptop thread!
