Can anyone recommend a cheap firewire card that will work with Vista?

I emailed Belkin about one and they said it wasnt Vista compatible.

If your motherboard has firewire headers on it, just get a single firewire port that connects to the firewire header. I bought one on an auction site for £4, and it worked perfectly.

i have a firewire port thing on my case but no port. i also have a firewire slot on the motherboard but no cable to go in to it

motherboard is asus p5n-e sli

can some one link an image of what am looking for?

Thanks

Depends exactly what you mean.

I have the front plate from my LianLi case that has mic, headphones, 2xusb, 1xfirewire out of my case as I don't need them. This sort of cable/item normally comes with all cases. If there is a firewire port on your case, then that will have a cable that can be plugged into your motherboard, but only if you have onboard firewire connection, which if there is nothing out the rear of the mobo I doubt you will have any.

As for the OP, I'd have thought most video editing packages, such as ones from Pinnacle that are firewire cards should work under Vista. Vista may just pick it up as a generic firewire card.

Personally I have no experience with this, as I've had firewire on my motherboards for years, so on Vista it's quite happy with the onboard one.

i have front usb x 2, audio/mic ports and a fireware hole for a firewire port thats still got the case plastic to be snapped off. to put a port in

i have a firewire hole on the motherboard but it like the one you get for the addon cards there the connector already has the hole and the board had the pins for the firewire

I'm confusd by that post.

Can you get pictures of the cable for the firewire on the case, and pictures of the connection on the motherboard?

I've been using the firewire on the Audigy 2 but i'm gonna be changing it to a new soundcard soon. I contacted Belkin just to make sure their firewire card would be ok with Vista and they said no!

I've got a firewire port on my case so I'll connect that up.
