I've never heard of a usb to firewire adapter. Does you laptop have pcmcia?

There's never going to be just a simple adapter as firewire is an entirely different protocol. FW is more akin to SCSI than serial.

A PCMCIA card is the solution.

No it has an express card slot, I think you can buy express card to pcmcia adaptors, you can buy usb to pcmcia adaptors as well.

If the camera uses dvds why dont you just put the dvd in the dvd drive?
