Yep the IC can even be ordered from overseas and they're not expensive... Fitting it is your main problem IMO.Is there really not a single firm in the UK that could fix it for me? In Poland, just in a city where I used to live there were two big companies and the cost of the repair was about 25-30 pounds plus you were given 3 months warranty. I didn't have to know which of the ICs was broken, it was their job to find it and replace it.
I don't see see why it should be a problem to find the proper IC; you've got it's name on it and it costs almost nothing. It's just about replacing it with a new one. PCB and IC are the cheapest card components, it's GPU that costs the most.

Even though you have a faulty memory chips you may still be able to use the card as a secondary in sli.
I have 3 gtx 280s and one of them the vga chip on it ( controls the dvi output ) is fried however because i dont use it as my main card it still works in sli config as my 3rd gpu.
