firmware 2.36 out now

The music ability is the only reason why I bought Tiger Woods 2007 on the Xbox360. Having custom music ingame is really important for a game like TW I think.

I used it on games like Test Drive Unlimited too and Football Manager in the past.

The main usage for in-game XMB is to view and send messages whilst in-game, something which I use ALL the time on Xbox360. Also the ability to send someone an invite to play an online game without leaving the session is a big one too.

ingame XMB, whats the big deal anyway. If i'm playing a game I don't want to go into the XMB to view pictures and listen to music else I would just quit the game.

It's not a major thing for me, but would be nice to pick up my messages without leaving the game. Also nice if i am waiting for people to get online to play a different game to what i am playing, i can flick up a friends list.

Like i said, not major issues, but something i would like none the less. I think 2.4 will get a release date at E3.

Are they putting a games history profile on gamertags in the new update?
I'd like to know what games other people have played, something I do on Xbox Live quite often too.

Also, web support would be nice.

Would be nice but I wouldn't be suprised if those sort of things, especially any web integration, didn't appear until Home did.

Ingame XMB will be a massive boost to Metal Gear Online, that's for sure. Currently it's incredibly difficult to do anything with friends quickly and effectively.

MGO doens't use the PSN Friends List though (unless it's changed since the Beta) so I don't see how ingame XMB will improve the game - you won't be able to make use of PSN invites.

It will still be retarded as Konami don't have a clue how to do an online game which has become apparent after their previous efforts. They still use the Konami Online using seperate friends lists etc... to PSN.

Then you have people who signed up different MGO names to those of their gamertag. So far there are me and Needles that I know of that use our gamertags and I'll let msmalls off because his is somewhat similar.

Damn all the rest to hell I say.

Konami choice to use their own online system for their games (MGS4 / PES2008) instead of integrating with PSN ala PS3 versions of COD4 / GTA4 is probably the most annoying thing for me this generation. Couple that with the fact that PES2008 isnt playable online anyway. Makes things so difficult and over complicated.

All said before, In-Game XMB for chat, PM's and game invites are a must. On the other hand, I am able to wait a while longer as I have gotten used to the PS3 online as it is.

+1

I use these features all the time, it's not just the fact the 360 has them and the PS3 doesn't, people use these features on their 360 and want the same on the PS3.

You can send invites to people internally through most PS3 games anyway, that hasnt really been an issue for me, I dont mind doing it through a lobby. Its messaging! If you havent got a headset it can be an right annoyance trying to get mates setup etc. In game music is another required feature, having 1-way amp means I cant listen to own tunes + game sounds which is why ill buy most car games on 360.
