I have a tablet and selected the optional Windows updates drivers and firmware update but something went wrong during the firmware update so now each time I turn on my tablet, a message pops up saying Windows needs to restart to finish the firmware update so I click restart and Windows says it again that I need to restart?
Every time the tablet gets turned on I have to restart. Is there anyway way of getting rid of this or am I stuck with it now?
If its tied to Windows then that's not so bad. My worry was because its firmware that its tied to the BIOS & that render the tablet as damaged in some way or even, bricked worse case scenario. I'm not sure how to do a factory restore on a Windows tablet, I'm only familiar on how to do that with Android devices so maybe its the same for Windows devices I'm not entirely sure. I will always make sure to leave the Update Firmware box unchecked in Windows Update in future when working on Panasonic devices.
I guessed you are used Panasonic Toughpad Tablet? I will need to know what model you are used then I can try to find out how to do factory restore or recovered from failed firmware update.
I found FZ-M1 MK3 has 3 models FZ-M1G MK3 Value, FZ-M1HCJ MK3 Standard and FZ-M1J MK3 Standard.
I looked in user manual but it did not had tips or information I am looked for. So I guess you have to do like all PCs troubleshooting, try press hold power button for 5 to 20 secs repeats 3 times and Windows will perform automatic startup repair and diagnostic then Automatic Repair screen will appear say your PC did not started correctly. Try click on Restart button to see if your tablet will finally boot normal to reach lockscreen, if Windows boot normal then make sure you remove all USB devices and battery pack, connect your tablet to AC power then try Widnows Update to download and install firmware update. If you still have same problem with Windows restart everytime, maybe Windows installation is corrupted.
Open Terminal (Admin) and run commands below:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /checkHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /restoreHealth
sfc /scannow
Above commands will repair corrupt Windows installation and it should install firmware update and restart PC properly.
If firmware update through Windows Update still not worked. What the firmware version Windows Update is try to install? You will need to download the correct touchscreen and UEFI firmware updates from Panasonic support, run exe as admin to install firmwares. If you download and install wrong firmware then it will brick your tablet.
Thanks I really appreciate you taking the time to research this for me.
I think I'll just re-install Windows and skip on the firmware update as its too risky, not worth bricking the tablet for the sake of a firmware update. Thanks once again I really appreciate it.
