Hoping it comes tomorrow! If any OCUK staffer is reading this feel free to give the guys in the warehouse a prod ;)

Getting it for VR development and demonstrating and interested to see how this new VR specific stuff plays out that they've added to this new card.

Fingers crossed it all comes functioning 'cause I'm chomping at the bit!

Oh if anyone notices something I've missed or isn't compatible please let me know!

And reason for buying now with reference 980 card is that I've got a demo lined up next week so already I'd been putting this off and not getting the 780ti - just can't wait any longer!

OS I'll install from USB - like any sensible person living in 2014. I've also got a Bluray that I could take out of my old PC. Turns out that since I put my old one together 3 years ago I unplugged it at somepoint and didn't plug it back in. I've no idea when this happened and been through about 2 reformats...

SSD - That's my one regret right there. Never even considered the PCI-E option. Ach well :)

Memory, ach, timings vs speed - won't make much difference that these rates. Appreciate the consideration though!

I wouldn't bother with the 850 PRO, the MX100 is 50% of the price and performs just as good.

Also, you could go for the windowed version of the case to show off the nice parts inside?

I wouldn't go as far as saying the MX100 performs just as good. But yeah, definitely agree the 850 isn't perhaps the best bang for your buck I could have gone with.

Case is all personal taste and I prefer the understated look. Sits under a desk where you can't see it anyway.

The only thing I would change is the PSU. Can get a 1000Watt Superflower Leadex Plat. for the same money.

For the Power supply the lifetime warranty of the Corsair swings it for me. Won't need the extra wattage, especially with lower power consumption of the 980.

EDIT: Cheers again for the thoughts guys. Obviously I've done nothing COMPLETELY stupid compatibility and performance wise so fingers crossed it all works well come the day I put it together!

The product wording is.....sneaky.

It's a 7 year warranty with lifetime access to Corsair Support.

Superflower has a respectable 5 years.

Both are excellent PSUs however!

Those buggers! Deciding factor was lifetime warranty, no joke! Ugh, not going to dwell on it as you can only learn from your mistakes - cheers for the heads up though!

EDIT: Wait, is it possible this page has changed?? I'm pretty sure I would have noticed and understood "A Seven year warranty and lifetime access to Corsair's legendary technical support and customer service." I was explicitly looking for parts with best warranties. Sod it anyway - don't think I have any computer parts that are over 7 years old... :)

DOUBLE EDIT: Shipped! *heart attack* call... para... medics...

Maybe OcUK offer a direct lifetime warranty, I'm not sure?

Either way, it's a solid PSU and like you said, 7 years down the line I'm not sure you'll even still be using it....though that's not to say it wont last should you want to!

Just chill and enjoy building it :D

Sure, but I hope that sensible person living in 2014 has got any optical drive to read OS DVD first, just as a part of making USB OS-bootable-drive process. Whatvever you've "formatted" BluRay - it's good as soon as it works :D

SSD - That's my one regret right there. Never even considered the PCI-E option. Ach well :)

First one is M.2, not PCIe. Internally (in fact) it's connected to PCIe lanes, as all SATA SSDs (by the way - in fact, too LOL), but in case of M.2 there are more such lanes available which allows drives to be quicker. This Crucial M6e has got bigger IOPSes which simply means: it's quicker. So I said - if I had such money to waste, I'd buy M6e. Look at this link - you don't love such small M.2 SSD ? Another advantage - this SSD won't require ANY cables :)

Not at all, but it allows better oc-ing probably and it's in the same price, just 8 pounds more - nothing to cry with wasting money :D

I could swear I've had something delivered from OCUK via DPD next day (free member shipping) on a Saturday... I'm a hanging around my house like a chump or should I expect it? Tracking says it was picked up yesterday and on it's way to my local depot - not out for delivery like I'd expect...

Not going to lie, little miffed. Put in an order for £1.7k and selected free "next day shipping" which I get for being a forum member.

But I missed the fact that there's ALSO an option for "Saturday delivery" - ugh.

Realise this is my own fault but seriously, if you're going to call it "next day delivery" at least call it "next working day delivery" when that's actually what it is.

It's pretty well accepted that next day is next business day and Saturday delivery is another service above and beyond :(

At least you get the Free Next Day. I am covered by RM in Jersey but no longer qualify for it, which is a little frustrating.

While I might agree normally DPD are known for their outstanding weekend service.

I also think that the real problem is the automatic comparison people (like myself) make between other online retails.

Take for example this email I got today for an order I placed this morning.

Ok, I'm paying a yearly sub for the privilege but, it's clearly marked as "next day delivery" just the same as Overclockers. While I'm not saying you're wrong I do think times are changing, and if you wan't to compete with the best then it's possibly something they want to make as clear as possible.
