One of the first batch of Apple personal computers has sold at auction in London for £133,250 ($210,000).

The Apple I came with its original packaging and a signed sales letter from Apple co-founder and current chief executive Steve Jobs.

The computer, one of only 200 of the model ever made, originally sold for $666.66 when it was introduced in 1976

Not a bad profit margin, a 31500% increase in 34 years and it's not even a working machine!

I didn't know this bit either:

Christie's said the Apple I had been the only personal computer to come with a fully assembled motherboard when it was introduced, making it ready to use straight from the box.

I'm surprised Apple themselves didn't buy it up, they seem to have a thing for buying up their antique products for their campus museum.

I could've sold my old iMac to them - that came with ****ing antique hardware when I bought it new...

Then why did you buy it, knowing it was already defunct? :p

You're just opening it up to yet more jokes about Mac fans and buying things because of the Apple logo...

If there's ever a market for old Apple IIs then my high school should be quids in, they were still had loads of them about 12 years ago. Bet they've got rid of them before the market picks up though, if it ever does.

Unlikely that was their most successful computer ever selling 6 million units.

Just checked. Current value £10 to £150 depending on the exact model. Cost $1200 when new.
