first proper attempt at oc'ing

Hi

I thought I would have a go at oc'ing even though I know my mobo is not ideal for it.

E4300
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NQ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit
Asrock Conroe 945G-DVI mobo

I used these settings:-
Dram Freq=266 (DDRII533)
Cpu Freq=244Mhz
Pcie Freq=122Mhz

apart from dram freq the rest of the memory settings are set to auto

Do you think I can do anything to get any more speed out of it or is my mobo going to limit me to this? If i increase the Cpu freq anymore it won't boot up win xp.

Look for an option in the bios along the lines of 'pci clock synchronization' and make sure it's set to 33.33Mhz. Also, I reckon you have the Pci-e frequency set too high at 122Mhz, try setting it to its default 100Mhz. :)

[Edit]

Try setting the ram to 200/400 in order to run it inline (1:1) with the processor. Once you've done this then up the processor to 245fsb which will also take the ram up to 245/490Mhz. If you now find you can boot at the 245 stage then keep upping the the processor until you find its sweet spot.

Goodluck. :)

Thanks. I tried reducing the pcie to 100 but it wouldn't boot then. i will try lowering the memory speed to 200 and see how it goes then :)
