first attempt at overclocking

Hi guys another noob question from myself..


I have an fx 6100 which i want to overclock, i ahve downloaded amd overdrive which was suggested to me..


my question is i can see i can clock it but do i need to change anything else.... below is a picture before i touch anything

Firstly is your board a rev 4 or rev 5? Blue pcb is rev 4. Brown is rev5
Rev 5 has a better stock bios and the all important apm mode, which when disabled prevents the cpu from throttling. Rev4 bios can be upgraded with a custom bios.

For your info that board will support an fx83** upto 1.45v. Just don't use ibt or p95 as it overloads the vrms. If you want any assistance let me know I was the first person to push this board to the limit.

hi cheers fo reply, i have the blue board as pictured

although i have upgraded the cooler.. ( excuse cable mess )

I did have a very quick attempt last night using amd overdrive but crashed the pc straight away, need to do some more reading as i have no clue

my only thinking in overclocking this is to save 100 odd quid until next year when i get an i7 or maybe even this new mega amd i have seen a thread about if its true and happens
