First build £1600 budget

as i said above im a novice and couldnt even tell u what next gen is.

Next Gen is PCI 3.0, supposedly linked in to IvyBridge when it comes out. It'll be the nVidia 600 Series and the ATI 7000 series.

In particular it's why everyone's suggesting the ASRock Extreme 4 GEN 3.... as this supports IvyBridge and the PCI 3.0 Graphics cards.

It would be possible to buy a 'cheaper' card to tide you over until then, however, truth be told though Kepler (the codename for nVidia 600 series) has already been pushed back once... http://www.techpowerup.com/148722/Foundry-Delays-to-Push-Back-NVIDIA-Kepler-Launch-to-2012.html?cp=2
Even if we presume it's early 2012 - which is possible it would be a 3 month wait (not too bad).

Saying that, if you picked up any of the GPU suggestions (SLI 570/580 or Xfire 6950/6970) I'd expect a setup like that to last a good few years at the very least until it needed replacing...

Thanks im going to go with ure second setup and ill post back next week when it arrives

This is your first build and you want to spend how much money? If you really have never built and installed a PC from scratch I'd really suggest you do it with a good friend that is experienced and can help you out.

Alternatively order a complete system from here, ornmaybe ask them to build it and ship it for you. If anything goes wrong you're covered.

Just my £0.02 worth. Good luck either way, looks like an awesome machine.

This isn't actually a bad idea to be honest. Always an option. (The getting them to build it up for you and ship it).

I'm pretty sure you can give them basically any spec and they'll happily build it up for you and ship it to you. As far as I'm aware the only thing you have to stick in is the GPU(s) as it can damage the computer in transit if left in, but they ship that to you as well just in the box, not installed.

Frankly as well, a £1600 build for your first build is a bit OTT. You won't need that much.

If I ordered something from them and got it pre-built, this would be more than capable:

For the highest spec system, I still stand by my original spec with the 2 580's. However considering your position I believe your best bet may be to take the spec above, and ask if OCUK can build it for you. I think they charge a small premium for this, but I don't believe it's very much (don't quote me on that!), and you end up with the build you want, with it built up nicely as you want!
