Hi,

Im looking to build a PC for first time.
I have a budget of max £600 but would like to keep it a bit under if possible.

I'll need everything apart from keyboard, mouse and monitor. Will need OS and Wi-fi card.

Would like to be able to play recent games on good settings and ability to upgrade in future.

I have no idea where to start so any help will be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Hmmm not sure what to do now aha!
was planning on buying it the end of next week however a lot of the components in the builds are on offer- Do you suggest getting it early or waiting and hoping better offers are on??

I think going with a Z77 board gives you a better upgrade path, as you could get a 3570k when funds allow.
It`s hard to say whether buying now or later will get you better bargains or not. It all depends on what is on offer at the time.
As already mentioned, you can upgrade the Cpu.

Nice one! I'm liking that build. Do you think that would be my best option from all the builds?

Just got to decide whether to buy it before the deals change!

As the build stands at the moment with the offers(Gpu,ram and OS), it is about £50 cheaper than it would normally be.

The pentium G850 has plenty of poke for the price. As it's much cheaper than the i3 it's easier to justify "writing it off" to put in a 2nd hand i5K down the road and overclock it.

The 660 GPU adds cuda support which will help make up for the loss of quicksync as I'm not using an i3. Case has LOTS of extras, PSU is modular which is great for looks as well as airflow. 600W is overkill but it's cheaper than the 500W version so i'm going for it ;)

If you have a £600 budget, I would suggest using THIS HDD instead. Much more storage and a larger cache as well.

Hope this helps

P.S You wanted a WI-FI adapter too........click me

My first build consisted of a GTX 560TI, AMD Phenom II X4 850, ASUS M5(something) mobo, a crappy CIT PSU, GALAXY 3 CASE and some other shtuff. It was pretty good (it was under £600 i think) and i still have it - but upgraded obvs.

I'd highly recommend settling for the 3570K to be honest.

Let's see a spec with it then bud. I can't see it being done in the budget.

I already think my buddy Idleman has had to make compromises to get the i3 and a decent GPU in his specs. Having to pay for an OS hasnt helped the situation.

I did my best to make a solid foundation to build from, the OP requested an upgrade path. He doesn't "need" an i5K for gaming.....no games really use a quad core properly (ok BF3 but thats a rare exception). I would go with my spec and look for a second hand i5 2500K down the road, if not the 3570K

Cheers guys!
Just got to decide on which build to buy! i will probably go for the better HDD.
I might buy the items on offer before they change then get the others after.
If i post after the deals change stating what i have will you be able to suggest the rest of the parts i need based on the new offers??
Thanks for all the help!

That would make sense if you had free P&P but you don't. It's a gamble really, we dont know what will come on offer. You could buy stuff now and then see there are better options on wednesday.

I'd do it all in the one hit if I was you. My spec with the 2TB HDD and wifi would be a little over £600 but worth it.

That PSU is a steal and should be nabbed ASAP. The Z9 case is a great starters case. Four 120mm fans, digital temp display, fan controller, cable management with P4/8 Extension cable included. a lot to like for the price ;)

It's not bad but I prefer how I balanced the budget. I've tried to explain why, don't think because the pentium is half the price of the i3 that it's garbage.....it's really not.
