I have been looking through these forums a lot but I am still unsure what to go for. This will be my first build.

I basically want to spend about £700 to £800 on the tower. Monitor/keyboard ect not included. I will be getting this at some point in January and want to be certain that I am getting the right parts for the build. I want it for gaming (want to be able to run them at high graphic settings) and for video editing.

Below is what I have found through searching through the forums;

1 x Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Sleeping Dogs PC Game £257.99

1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99

1 x Intel 330 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £83.99

1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £81.98

1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £69.98

1 x Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black £48.98

1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) £46.99

1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2133HC11DC01) £35.99

Total : £825.90 (includes shipping : £12.50).

After showing it to a friend of mine, who is a bit more knowledgeable in this field, he has recommended that;

"SSD; Corsair, Crucial or OCZ for SSD's, use a 60GB/120GB for your OS and then a standard sata drive for all your data.

PSU; Don't skimp on your PSU at all, reputable brands ONLY (!!!!!!!!!)

HDD; I'd avoid Toshiba for sata drives, stick with seagate or western digital.

RAM; Never even heard of TeamGroup, stick with OCZ or Corsair."

So does anyone have any recommendations?

I agree with Tam, check back nearer the time.

That said, the Intel SSD isn't bad, the samsung 830 SSD would be preferable. You would only need 550W for the PSU on that setup. You could get a 550W modular PSU at a similar price for that corsair you picked. As you only use the cables you need there is no excess clutter in the case which improves airflow.

The toshiba drive is a good price and has a 2 year warranty, Seagate offers only 1 year, not that they are bad drives. The RAM will depend on whats cheapest at the time there are plenty of brands and RAM usually has a lifetime warranty anyway.

The Z9 case is a good starters case, I own one myself. There is now a USB3 edition available which would be better, lots to like for the price. The Bitfenix shinobi with window is another good case in that price range.

Good setup OP.
The things that I would change.

7950 - 660TI
Intel 330 - Intel 520

The Gigabyte motherboard is fine but I would go for Asus. But that's my personal preference.
