Hey,

I've been looking to build my own machine for a while and finally decided now is the time.
See below for what i am planning to put together:

CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Mobo: ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150
GPU: GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD GeForce GTX 670 2GB 256-bit GDDR5
RAM: Corsair Vengence 16GB (2x8GB)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V
Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14
HDD: Samsung 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk

My Budget in the region of £1000 but semi flexible. Will be used for primarily gaming but also some video editing.

I will also probably drop in a 1TB storage drive at some point also.

Any advice/ changes that you would suggest would be much appreciated.

Thanks, KingJonty

Will you need a monitor, OS, mouse, keyboard or speaker?

I would personally change that ASRock board myself (its of horrid manufacture and the RMA process is bad when compaired to say a Gigabyte which has a UK RMA base).

I will have to wait until this evening to spec you for your £1000 but the "this week only deals" will have come into effect by then :)

I don't need OS/Monitor/Keyboard/mouse/speakers, just the core components.

I'll have a look into the mobo as you suggested

Thanks :)

I've been looking at the following two options as an alternative to my original selection:

Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Intel Z87
Gigabyte Z87X-D3H Intel Z87

There doesn't appear to be much difference... thinking of going with the D3H to save a few pennies.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these two to offer advice?

Cheers

Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Intel Z87
Gigabyte Z87X-D3H Intel Z87

There is also a UD3H version just to bridge the gap..

To be honest, unless you're looking at tri-sli/tri-fire or overclocking to absolute extremes the X-D3H will be your best choice..

As for the rest of your spec, you can't use Vengaence 'tall' RAM with the D14,they will collide.. Look at getting some low profile RAM..
