Hi All,

First post noob looking for some sound advice!

I'm looking to create a reasonably hi-spec gaming machine that will be able to handle anything else that may be asked of it for a good few years to come. I will be running the machine at stock speed to start with, but I will be looking to overclock when I'm fully clued up.

So, after researching the forums here, these are the goodies that I am looking to buy.

I already have a LG Flatron monitor, a Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard and an ASUS Xonar D1 soundcard.

I would be grateful for any thoughts on the package that I have put together for my first self build.

Thanks!

i am building my first build as well, have you considered the 1tb samsung drives?

Tbh a pair of 500GB'S (in raid 0) in more than enough for me. I currently have 2 250GB's in raid 0 and I have never come anywhere near to filling them up.

maybe a better looking case? but the other specs look good

I'm not really one for LED's and perspex windows (far too old for that sort of thing);)

I would prefer the Fractal Design Define R2 but I felt that there may be some issues with the cooling abilities of that particular case that are not apparent in antec.

You can NEVER be too old for flashing lights and perspex windows, unless you are boring :)

When you've been sat next to a D*LL Dimension for the past 3 years the thought of a pc shaped like an astronauts helmet doing an impression of the Blackpool illuminations just doesn't appeal.:D

Ok, so the general consensus is positive.

One other question though. If I wanted to go down the Crossfire road in future, will a 650 watt be capable enough or would it be wiser to go for a 750 watt psu?

I'm been dithering on a case purchase for ages :D tricky things cases!

Might want to add another fan for doing push-pull on your cooler.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your replies.

I have finalised my list of components and have ordered them (should be with me tomorrow).

I made a few changes from the original list I posted, they were:

Swapped the Antec P183 for an Antec 300 (saved £57).
Swapped the Antec 650 watt psu for the 750 watt model (more headroom for future upgrades).
Added 2 more fans so I can have a push-pull configuration on the cooler (third fan is for the front of the case).

Now all I have to do is put it all together.

yeah thats what i ahve been doing for like 8-9hours :(
as it being my first build not too sure where everything goes
good news is the members on here are VERY helpful

should have mine done tommorow :)
good luck with yours
