Hi everyone, im looking for some advice on my first ever build and this seems like a very helpful community to ask :)

Im trying to build a mid-high range gaming PC and I am wondering if these parts will all work together.

Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-339-IN

Motherboard - Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-399-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=

RAM - 2 x OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel(So a total of 8GB)

PSU - Corsair CX 500W ATX Power Supply
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-034-CS

Cooling - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler

Case - Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-196-CM

I am really new to this so I dont even know if it will all fit into that case and if that power supply is a high enough wattage?

Any help/advice/different part recommendations would be appreciated thanks :)

Wow that was really quick! Thanks for the welcome everyone and thanks for the new spec RJC. But can I ask what the 64GB Hard Drive is for? Im sure there is a good reason but I only really know the basics about these things :P

Just had a quick read on what Sandy Bridge was. So if I go for that then my whole build will change right? Read something about the CPU needing a new socket. If this is the case then ill check back here on the 9th for further advice :P

Okay cool, ill be saving up until then in that case then ill be back :) I like the idea of a fast boot drive btw, so ill go for one of them when the time comes aswell.

Okay thanks, think ill go for HDMI :)

I was thinking, Sandy Bridge will most likely be more expensive than my current spec right? If this is the case ill probably just stick with the following -

KFA2 GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £279.99

Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail £145.00

Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £88.36

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
£74.99

Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case - Black
£69.99

Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply
£69.99

Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x BluRay ROM DVDRW DL & RAM Lightscribe SATAII Optical Drive
£46.99

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £46.99

Linksys by Cisco WMP600N 600Mbps Wireless-N Dual-Band PCI Network Adapter
£36.99

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler (Socket 939 / AM2 / AM3 / 775 / 1156 / 1366)
£18.99

Sub Total : £747.47
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DPD Next Day Parcel
Shipping : £13.75
VAT is being charged at 17.50% VAT : £133.21
Total : £894.43

And also, I think this will be more than adequate for most games out within the next few years?

Thanks for the help and advice everyone, Merry Christmas! :)

Does anyone know when the KFA2 GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card is actually out?

It says Pre-Order. ETA: Overdue

Thats okay, I still need a few more pay days before I make my £900 to buy it all together so the holidays should be over when I am ready to buy :)

The Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case is out of stock as well so thats another reason ill need to wait. Hopefully prices come down due to SB being released :D

Do you think Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit is enough RAM for a good gaming PC? I see people building gaming rigs and going for 8GB and sometimes 12GB aswell! Seems overkill but I dont know enough about this kinda thing to make assumptions :P

Oh, I didnt even think about the cooler, so everything comes pre assembled on the mobo? Thats great! :D Wasnt too worried about fitting it but hey, whatever gets me up and running quicker is fine by me!

Hello again :), so after some rethinking my budget and taking out things that arent essential I have came up with this and would love any feedback or criticism.

Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle - Gigabyte - £398.28

KFA2 GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £285.95

Cubitek Tattoo Fire Midi-Tower Windowed Case - Black/Red - £71.48

Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) - £70.99

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Adapter (TL-WN851N) - £18.37

Total : £858.58

Would anyone suggest a spec that would out perform the above for the same price or less?

Im waiting on hearing back from OCUK about that Graphics Card because I dont even know if its available yet.

Another big question I have is this, would there be a dramatic drop in graphics/performance if I downgraded to a 480,470 or even a 460? I know there will be a difference of course, but will it be very noticeable?

Sorry for changing my mind again, needed to cut the price a bit cause I got told my contract is up in March and ill be unemployed :p

Thank you, Anderson.

Thank you for the reply. I hear overclocking and I panic :p But I have managed to do a lot of stuff by following guides so I think I could manage it.

Okay ill change the PSU, was already recommended the Antec but I read somewhere that the Corsair TX was really good and I noticed it was cheaper. But I have learned from this forum that one must NOT skimp on a PSU :p

I wasnt sure about the case but I really like the black and red theme and it was a good price, anyone else used it before?

Thats fine then, ill go with cmndr_andi's spec. Damn that yellow fan for throwing off my red/black theme though :p

Theres a chance I wont overclock if im getting all the performance I need anyway :) Not sure if my case is big enough to keep everything cool, need to try find some reviews somewhere.

Errmm... dont laugh.. but I have just realised that ATI GPU's can also work with Intel :S

For some reason I have always thought ATI=AMD and Nvidia=Intel.... Just proves how new I am to all this :p

So now my question is:
Asus GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-244-AS

Or would the 6950 flashed to 6970 be a better GPU?
