Hi everyone,

just after some recommendations and advice on a prospective pc build. I havent built a pc before so this is new for me, I have spent many hours on youtube and pc part picker etc and have finally started gathering some parts.

what I have already:
- B450 tomahawk max (£89.99 in the sale)
- Corsair vengeance LPX 16GB 3600MHz RAM
- Western digital blue SN550 1TB m.2 SSD

I am thinking of adding a ryzen 5 3600 CPU and a corsair 550w 80+ gold PSU. I dont know where to begin with graphics cards to be honest so would appreciate some recommendations. feel free to chime in with anything else regarding CPU etc. Also opinions on tomohawk max?

My reason for wanting to build this is to accomodate some university work and occassional gaming, I'm not a huge gamer but would like a pc that is more than capable should I wish to get into gaming more. I will at some point be doing some basic engineering design so the pc will need to be able to handle that.

thanks in advance.

The rx580 sounds appealing, especially given the price. I was thinking around the £200ish mark for graphics card but could stretch a little if it was worth the money. Do you think the tomahawk max was a solid choice? Or should I have gone with a different motherboard?

Graphics card availability is shocking at the moment but something like rx580 or 1650 super will do for 1080p gaming.

It depends on how much you want to spend.

Tomahawk is a good choice so no worries there, get the 8gb rx580 if you can and even though the 1650 super is 4gb its just as fast.

The 1660 super is about 20% faster than the above so its your call.
